It’s been awhile since we’ve been able to take the whole family camping. But this past weekend, everything fell into place, and the weather was beautiful. So we headed out to the Buffalo National River to get some much needed outdoor therapy.
Saturday we hiked the Balanced Rock Falls trail. It was a nice adventurous-but-not-sketchy creek trail. Our normal choice for creek trails can be a bit too dangerous for kiddos and doggos, but this one was perfect. We did take a wrong turn after crossing the creek, but luckily we didn’t venture too far off course. We found our way back and up the hill to Balanced Rock Falls. When we finally reached the top to see the waterfall, my inner child took over, and I scaled the side of the waterfall to play in the water and get some cool photos.
The weather got a little chilly at night (31° on Friday and 42° on Saturday), but we managed to stay warm and cozy. I can thank my Campfire Queen (aka, the keeper of many blankets) for that.
Despite some initial kiddo resistance and a little complaining, I’d say the weekend was a success. It was a great opportunity to pry the young, impressionable minds away from screens for a few days.
